Reflection 1 Leonardo Preciado

During this past week we were separated into three different groups and tasked with a group presentation. When I first heard about this, I was worried about how we would divide tasks, manage our time, and work together effectively. However, as the project unfolded, my concerns were alleviated by witnessing the great presentations delivered by the three groups including my own.  The three groups delivered insightful presentations on various types of communication, showcasing their knowledge in different areas they researched. Group 1 talked about intercultural communication, emphasizing the importance of understanding and navigating cultural differences for effective interactions. In contrast, Group 2 explored the dynamics of communications within teams, highlighting the significance of clear communication channels and teamwork strategies for achieving common objectives. On the other hand, Group 3’s collaborative presentation focused on leadership qualities and problem-solvin...

Reflection 1 Jasmine Monteiro

Seeing each groups presentation really made me feel as though we were all able to understand the material effectively without question. Going into this we all didn't have a reference or idea of who we were going to be working with. At first it was a bit scary to start something new, talking to new people and getting everything done, in my group, I stepped up to separate the parts and checking up on people to make sure they were getting their parts done. I'm usually not the type to be the group leader and take initiative, so this was a new experience, I believe I did good and helped with all the questions my group asked and was able to effectively separate the parts where everyone had something to do. Everyone worked well together and had good communication between one another and I believe that helped us excel as well as the other groups.      Last week, I observed two other group presentations on the different chapters assigned to us. Group 1 that pre...

Katherine Pineda For Group one, I really liked how they explained and gave examples of the different types of roles people would play while participating in a group. How when working in groups that we should also be supporting each other. How everybody should behave when working with each other. And how when they went into speaking about effective meetings, that by the end of the meeting, the group should have met their goal, or get their point across. There are different types of roles when working in groups. A logistic coordinator is somebody who is in charge of everything . An Expeditor is someone that make sure that the group is on task, so they make sure everything is going to plan, and make sure that the group doesn’t stray away from the objective goal. Gate keepers take note of the people of the group an give everyone in the group a chance to speak on what is on their mind, or an idea that they would like to share. The recorders of the group take notes of the pres...

Reflection Reflecting on the presentations by Group One and Group Three, each group displayed unique strengths and effective collaboration, making both presentations successful. Group Three began their presentation with a clear and effective introduction slide, which outlined the scope of the presentation and clarified the roles of each member. This introduction was instrumental in setting a positive tone and helped the audience understand what to expect, ensuring their engagement from the start. Despite some initial difficulties, the clarity and structure of the introduction facilitated a smooth progression into the main content. Tayilnn from Group Three stood out with her use of analogies, particularly when discussing the Task Roles within a group. She made complex concepts relatable by connecting them to everyday examples and firsthand experiences, such as the support she receives from three members in her Twitch stream. This approach not only made the content more accessible but al...

Group #1, even though they were the last group, showed high enthusiasm when presenting their google slides. Their topic was Intercultural Communication. For the beginning what I understood is that intercultural groups are those that share common cultures, routines, and activities. If we pay attention to this topic, we will notice that it is a very important one in this world. Millions of people emigrate to foreign countries and start a new life surrounded by strangers. Mixing with new social groups and tolerating new beliefs and cultures is a must for everybody. Of course, when facing intercultural communication it is critical to come with an open mind, so we can take other people's place and points of view. One of intercultural communication's greatest enemies can be racism. We need to remember that there exist multiple races, ethnicities, values, religions, and sexual genders and orientations. Another aspect mentioned for these intercultural communications is the Socioecono...

Effective communication within groups   Whether in social, educational, or professional settings, successful group collaboration is based on effective communication. After watching a number of talks on the subject, a number of major themes come to light, highlighting the difficulties and crucial tactics involved in promoting fruitful group interactions. The significance of effective communication, the roles that people play in groups, the influence of group dynamics, and conflict resolution strategies are some of these issues.   The need of having good communication is one of the most basic points that are emphasized throughout the presentations. For a group to function cohesively and effectively, there must be clear communication about expectations, tasks, and goals among all members of the group. Ambiguity can cause miscommunication, mistakes, and frustration that can impede the group's advancement. For example, clearly defining each person's roles is necessar...
