Reflection #2

Into this presentation I thought that it'd be a lot easier, after listening to what the professor had to say and her feedback on how we did on our first reflection and PowerPoints. Going into the second presentation I do believe we as a class in a whole we're more confident and what we were speaking on, and we were able to explain the material effectively. In this presentation we had to do a theme project which was about different disabilities in our society. There were three to choose         from my group chose autism, Group One showed specific learning disabilities, and group 3 chose anxiety. We all created a study guide on the chapters assigned to us, i think every group was able to effectively explain the chapters and give a summary of each one.                 The last group to present was Group One, their presentation was on specific learning disabilities; they h...

Group three's presentation on anxiety was incredibly impactful. I appreciated the message they were trying to get across, and they made really good points. They emphasized that it manifests differently in everyone, no matter what age, gender, or any other aspects, and it could just as vastly impact them in their daily lives. Sharing their personal experiences was a powerful way to illustrate this point and foster understanding for those who face anxiety regularly. As much as we usually don’t think about it, so many people in the world face this and don’t even know it. Anxiety is something a lot of people around the world struggle with. It can feel different for everyone. Group 3 also mentioned that even though it's common, some people still don't understand how hard it can be to live with anxiety every day. It can make things like work, relationships, and just getting through the day really tough. Because people don't always talk openly about mental health, many suffe...

Living in a world that often prioritizes uniformity can be challenging, especially for individuals with anxiety, autism, and specific learning disabilities. Through interviews with people who navigate these challenges daily, I gained a deeper understanding of their experiences. This reflection explores the insights gleaned from these interviews and contrasts the perspectives in America with those in other parts of the world. In America, the approach to disabilities, including anxiety, autism, and specific learning disabilities, has evolved significantly over the years. Legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) has played a crucial role in promoting inclusivity and accessibility. Strengths: Legal Protections: The ADA and IDEA ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to education, employment, and public services. These laws mandate accommodations and modifications to support those with disa...

Anxiety, an omnipresent facet of human existence, manifests in various forms and intensities, affecting individuals globally. It transcends age, gender, and culture, permeating the fabric of daily life. In this essay, we delve into the intricacies of anxiety, exploring its root causes, its pervasive effects, and effective strategies for management. At its core, anxiety often stems from a complex interplay of genetic predispositions, environmental factors, and personal experiences. Genetic predispositions may render some individuals more susceptible to anxiety disorders, while environmental stressors such as trauma, societal pressures, or major life changes can exacerbate its manifestation. Moreover, personality traits like perfectionism or neuroticism may amplify feelings of anxiety in certain individuals. The effects of anxiety extend far beyond mere emotional distress. Physiologically, it can trigger a cascade of responses, including elevated heart rate, shallow breathing, muscle ten...

Lisbeth Triana Reflection # 2

Reflecting on the presentations by Groups One and Three, both groups had unique strengths and effective collaboration, resulting in phenomenally successful presentations. Group One worked through chapters 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8 with a study guide that effectively delivered the relevant material. The group's decision to deliver its summary in key points proved remarkably effective . This strategy made the text clear and easy to absorb for the viewer, ensuring that the main points of communication were effectively transmitted. Furthermore, the visual appeal of their study guide was notable. The effort and attention to detail that Group One put into their work were obvious, contributing to an overall engaging and informative presentation.       One notable aspect of Group One's presentation was their emphasis on Specific Learning Disabilities. They started with a self-created video, which was an asset for effortlessly blending graphics with the information delivered. Phil...

Anxiety tends to be a more common condition among the teenagers. Today, important media suggest that anxiety is a serious condition that affects a great part of the population. Causes of anxiety might come from genetic affairs, social circumstances, brain chemistry and life experiences. Studies suggest that this condition appears on people with life traumas that follow them till this present day. Of course, the fight against these type of mental conditions is not the same for every culture. There are cultures that don't take anxiety as a main issue among young groups and there are those committed to help any individual suffering from this state of life. Is not a secret that many people presenting conditions like anxiety choose not to share their thought and feelings with someone else. Talking these problems with family or a close friends could be a very beneficial decision. Because anxiety is a real thing, there are a couple of organizations like ADAA, NAMI, MHA, and NIMH that off...
